Fat Tuesday…..

I cannot believe it has been nine months since we moved to the Carolinas!…. We are finally settling into our new home and it is absolutely awesome.  It has been like Christmas unpacking boxes and “finding our treasures!”   That is what happens when your “stuff” has been packed up for nine months… it’s almost like having another baby……well not really….

So now it is time for cooking, baking and trying new recipes… See what I cooked Monday Night…

Settling In

One More Move… Let’s Keep The Journey Going….Family is Everything

So it has taken more than a New York minute to get moved and somewhat settled into our new home in Five Forks, South Carolina…. I cannot even begin to express what the last ten months of our lives have been like, however, with that said, we have been incredibly blessed.  I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God has a plan for each and every one of us… All we have to do is follow His Direction…

I am keeping this short and sweet tonight, since it has been a while since I posted anything anywhere… that’s what happens when you are following U-Haul Trucks… packing boxes, unpacking boxes, firing movers, emptying a Loft Apartment with 25 steps up and down, no elevator at 2:00 am in the morning!   I am not sure what we were thinking!   Add to that whole scenario, Hubby ended up in the hospital with chest pains and apparently the doctor thought that Ron was about to check out of this world… But not happening now…

So here are a few pictures… We are finally getting settled into our new home.. And I love it… It is the perfect forever home… Everything I dreamed it would be… So with that said hold on to your dreams, never give up, never say no, be open to new adventures and you never know where you will land and what the good Lord has in store for you…..

Making Kahlua’ has become Holiday Tradition at our Home….

Homemake Kahlua Recipe

4 Cups of Very Strong Coffee, 8 cups of Sugar, 4 1/2 Cups of Vodka, 3 Tbs Vanilla (Note: Vanilla Beans are great to use as well, just cut them into thirds and place one third of the Vanilla Bean in each bottle….)

Stir the Sugar in the Coffee, add the Vodka and Vanilla….. Let Cool and then Bottle. You can decide the size of bottles you want to use…. Once again, the Amazon Elves came thru with bottles delivered right to my front door… Well, we are still Loft Living…. so they came right to the Loft Door…..

Making Happiness…. with a Toast to Christmas!

Teppy’s Sunday Cooking

Getting Started with My To Do List… for Christmas… well actually, I have been working on my list since November… and could not have done it without my Elves from the North Pole…. (Amazon and Pottery Barn!) So here we go… all parts in motion…. I have a lot to do before Matt gets here tonight… He is the first “young adult” home for the holidays…… Kim gets here Christmas Eve and Rob and Matt W. get here the day after Christmas….. Yes.. .when I left Costco yesterday with all types of “Adult Beverages” and groceries… a nice gentleman in the parking lot asked me could he come to the party…. Teppy know how to throw a party… So join me on my Christmas Cooking journey….

Today’s list…. Homemade Kahula’, Two Step Pound Cake, Almond/ Cranberry Biscotti, Oxford Fudge Pie, Marina Sauce and getting the Brisket ready marinate…. plus finish wrapping presents… Clean the house and cook an amazing dinner…. I better get started…..

As Promised… Chocolate Chip Cookies….

Chocolate Chip Cookies…..

Pre-heat Oven to 350 Degrees

Two Thirds Cup Softened Butter

Two Thirds Cup Shortening  (I prefer Crisco)

Two Eggs, beaten

One Cup Sugar

One Cup Brown Sugar

Place the above in your mixer and cream.

Three and one half cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

Add the above to the creamed mixture one cup at a time and beat on low… (unless you want flour all over your kitchen!)

 One teaspoon of vanilla

One cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Two cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Add all of these to your cookie mixture and beat slowly.

Refrigerate dough for about an hour.. then drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for eight to ten minutes depending on  your oven temperature and if you like chewy cookies or crispy cookies.

Enjoy!
